MANILA, Philippines — A man died after sustaining a gunshot wound in the knee during an anti-illegal drug operation in Pasig City, according to a police report obtained by the Inquirer.
It only identified the suspect as a 31-year-old Pasig City-based porter with the alias “Jon.”
Personnel from the Pasig City Police Station-San Joaquin Substation spotted Jon and his companion allegedly “[engaged] in [the] illegal drug trade” last Sunday night and gave chase to both, the report detailed.
When a patrolman caught up with Jon and managed to grab him, according to the police report, “the suspect took a knife from his waist and stabbed the arresting officer. However, the latter managed to evade the attack.”
