Opposition SYRIZA leader Sokratis Famellos has submitted a parliamentary question to Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis over fuel prices, accusing the government of failing to curb rising costs and questioning whether it is benefiting from refinery profits.
Famellos said government measures have not stopped fuel price increases, which he said are higher in Greece than the EU average.
He argued the increases are fueling inflation, reducing purchasing power and weighing on businesses, agriculture and tourism.
He also cited refinery data showing about €800 million in pre-tax profits in the first quarter, describing it as evidence of excessive sector gains.
SYRIZA called for a cap on profit margins across the fuel supply chain, a reduction in fuel taxes to EU minimum levels and a windfall tax on refinery profits, with proceeds returned to consumers.
