The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) will host the international conference and expo, Blue India 2026, from June 4 to 6 at its Panangad campus. The event, themed “Blue Research – Blue Innovation – Blue Future,” will focus on the role of research and innovation in strengthening India’s blue economy, marine resources and fisheries sector.Roy D. Palmer, President of the Association of International Seafood Professionals, Australia, will serve as Conference Chair.The conference will be inaugurated on June 4 by N. Felix, Vice-Chancellor of Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University, Tamil Nadu. The valedictory session on June 6 will be inaugurated by Kerala Fisheries Minister V. E. Abdul Gafoor.As part of the event, KUFOS, in association with the Indian Marine Ingredients Association (IMIA), will organise the Global Roundtable on Marine Ingredients on June 4. The roundtable will discuss the marine ingredients sector's contribution to India's blue economy, investment opportunities, technological advancements and policy support. International scientists, industry leaders and policymakers are expected to participate.The Kerala Aquafarmers Meet 2026 will be held on June 5. The technical workshop for prawn farmers will cover emerging aquaculture technologies, regulatory developments, market opportunities and mud crab fattening techniques.The programme is being supported by several sectoral organisations, including the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA), the Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture (CIBA) and the Prawn Farmers Federation of India (PFFI).Published on June 2, 2026
