Govt assures support to develop KUFOS into Centre of Excellence

Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) will receive all necessary support from the Government to develop into a Centre of Excellence of international standards, said the State Fisheries Minister V E Abdul Gafoor.He was speaking at an interaction session at KUFOS as part of the valedictory programme of the Blue India 2026 international conference.KUFOS, according to the Minister, plays a crucial role in the development of the fisheries sector and the blue economy. The Minister assured the Government’s continued support for the University’s academic, research, and skill development initiatives. During the programme, the Minister was presented with the Strategic Action Plan prepared by KUFOS for the sustainable transformation of Kerala’s fisheries sector, as well as the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) for the period 2026–2031.The session was chaired by KUFOS Vice Chancellor A Biju Kumar.Published on June 7, 2026
