Authorities rescued a boy and seized a transparent plastic bag containing suspected shabu worth around P6.8 million from him during an anti-illegal drug operation in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), the subject of the operation identified as alias “Namli” eluded arrest while his companion identified as alias “John” was arrested.Upon further verification, alias John was found later to be a minor. He was turned over to the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD).“In view of this development, guidance and appropriate intervention from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) are being sought to ensure that all legal procedures, child protection protocols, and statutory requirements are properly observed in accordance with existing laws and regulations concerning children in conflict with the law,” PDEA-BARMM said.Recovered from the suspects were a plastic bag containing approximately one kilo of suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and a mobile phone believed to have been used in the illegal drug transaction.PDEA-BARMM said Namli, who remains at large, will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act (RA 9165). —GMA Regional TV News
