M. Prathap, a 2017 batch IAS officer assumed office collector of Kanniyakumari district on Sunday.Addressing the media, he said that Kanniyakumari is one of the country’s major tourist destinations, attracting a large number of both domestic and international tourists. He stated that discussion would be held with officials to determine and implement projects aimed at further improving tourism infrastructure and facilities.He added that the district has a large number of fishermen and efforts would be made to coordinate various projects to ensure the safety of fishermen engaged in deep sea fishing and to improve the livelihoods and people living in fishing villages.Similarly demands and concerns of farmers, weavers and all the people engaged in professions activities would be recommended to the government through district administration for appropriate action.The Collector also emphasised that officials of all departments should treat people visiting the district collectorate with courtesy and in a kind manner. He stressed that petitions submitted by the public should be processed promptly, with the primary objective of providing effective and timely solutions to their grievances.
