Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh inaugurated a state-of-the-art Medical Textiles Testing Laboratory at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) here on May 30, 2026 (Saturday).The laboratory provides crucial quality assurance infrastructure for the medical textiles sector, including the testing and validation of PPE kits, surgical gowns, masks, drapes, and wound-care materials. It is equipped to assess barrier efficiency, safety performance, and microbial resistance, ensuring products meet stringent healthcare standards.Mr. Giriraj Singh also visited the IMEDS facility, which was recognised for manufacturing sterile wound-closure consumables and surgical skin staplers. Additionally, he inspected the Nanoshell facility to review advancements in the production of high-purity graphene for use in electronics, energy storage, medical devices, and advanced composites.The visit also featured a demonstration of high-strength, biocompatible polymers intended for use in orthopaedic implants and other healthcare applications. The Union Minister noted that while India had historically relied on import of medical equipment, the AMTZ developed capabilities that were beyond imagination.
