The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has granted recognition to the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) as an ‘Awarding Body (AB-Dual Category)’, which aims to bolster the medical device manufacturing sector by fostering a highly skilled workforce.The agreement, formalised recently authorises AMTZ to assess, certify, and award qualifications to individuals trained through its campuses and associated centres. This move is designed to ensure that skill development programmes remain industry-driven and aligned with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).As an immediate outcome of this recognition, the NCVET has approved a specialised skill programme titled “Production Associate – Manufacturing (Medical Device)” at NSQF Level 4.5. This course is specifically tailored to meet the evolving technical and regulatory demands of the medical device manufacturing industry.Industry leaders welcomed the move as a crucial step for India’s healthcare manufacturing ambitions. Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & Founder CEO, AMTZ, noted that India’s aspiration to become a global hub for medical device manufacturing necessitates both world-class infrastructure and a highly skilled workforce.“This recognition from NCVET is an important step towards creating nationally recognised skilling pathways for the MedTech sector,” he said.
