The MedTech Quality and Communications Institute (MQCI), functioning under the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), celebrated its inaugural Foundation Day on Wednesday, marking a year dedicated to enhancing standards, quality, skills, and professional capabilities within India’s MedTech and HealthTech sectors.Opening the event, AMTZ Managing Director and Founder CEO Jitendra Sharma stated that quality establishes trust, while effective communication ensures that trust reaches society. With medical technology becoming central to healthcare, safety, reliability, and clear communication are vital for translating innovations into better health outcomes. MQCI combines quality assurance, training, professional development, certification, and knowledge-sharing into a single platform.During its first year, the institute delivered specialized training programs, provided ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Quality Management System consultancy, completed the initial Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Certification Scheme (BEMCS) assessment at CMC Vellore, and advanced initiatives to strengthen quality practices across healthcare technology.Highlighting the consumer and patient viewpoint, MQCI Chairman Prof. Bejon Kumar Misra noted that for patients, quality represents safety, reliability, and trust rather than a mere technical requirement. He added that institutions like MQCI help keep quality at the centre of how healthcare technologies are developed, assessed, and adopted as India advances its medical technology ecosystem.Emphasising the connection between quality standards and clinical practice, Dr. Sunil Kumar Khetarpal, Deputy Director General of the Association of Healthcare Providers (India), stated that the value of medical technology is ultimately realized in healthcare settings. He stressed that robust quality systems, adherence to standards, and trained professionals are essential for providers to use technologies with confidence. The event convened experts from healthcare, academia, quality assurance, and medical technology, featuring a panel discussion on the requirements, benefits, and best practices of healthcare textiles processing facilities.
