Greece’s national university entrance exams began Friday for students in the country’s General Lyceums (academic high schools), opening a highly competitive process for admission to higher education institutions.
Candidates are currently sitting the Modern Greek Language and Literature exam as they compete for 68,788 university places for the 2026-27 academic year.
The three-hour test began at 8:30 a.m., with students required to arrive by 8 a.m.
Candidates were instructed to bring identification, examination cards and blue or black pens. Mobile phones, smartwatches, books and notes were banned, with possession of a phone inside the exam room leading to automatic disqualification.
