TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, Philippines — A 27-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly caught cutting copper wires installed beneath the San Juanico Bridge during a patrol operation conducted by police in Tacloban City on Wednesday, May 27.

The suspect, identified only by his alias “Garong,” is a resident of Barangay San Pedro in Sta. Rita, Samar.

In a report, the 805th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-8, said its personnel were conducting a motorcycle patrol along the San Juanico Bridge when they caught the suspect in the act of cutting copper wires beneath the country’s longest bridge connecting Leyte and Samar islands.
