TACLOBAN CITY — Police arrested 61 wanted persons across the Eastern Visayas region during simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations conducted on Tuesday, May 19, including two suspects facing rape and child abuse charges, the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8) said.
Among those arrested was the region’s seventh most wanted person, identified only by the alias “Ben,” 42, of Naval, Biliran. He was arrested by joint operatives from the Naval Municipal Police Station, Criminal Investigation Detection Group (CIDG)- Biliran Provincial Field Unit, Biliran Provincial Intelligence Unit, among others.
Police said the suspect was served warrants of arrest for seven counts of violation of Section 5(B), Article III of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act, with recommended bail set at P200,000 for each case, as well as a rape case with no bail recommended.
