Schools were put on the spot for low pass percentage in the Class X and XII board exams, and teachers were instructed to examine the reasons for the drop in percentage, at the review meeting chaired by Collector C. Dinesh Kumar at the Krishnagiri Collectorate.Addressing the fall in the recently declared Class X and XII board exams, the Collector insisted that targets be set for teachers on subject-wise pass percentage.Teachers and school administration were asked to assess subject-wise performance. Further, students with low outcomes must be identified and targeted coaching must be provided through special classes in the mornings and evenings, he said.Weekly unit tests and monthly model tests must be conducted and students, who have failed in single or two subjects must be identified and special coaching be given. Further, the attendance of students must be closely monitored. Parents of absentees must be summoned by school monitoring committee and queried.The Collector also called for training sessions for teachers with low pass outcomes in their respective subjects. Similarly, school records must be maintained with rigour and submitted to the district School Education Department. Teachers and students must be actively encouraged and appreciated for good performance.The schools were asked to ensure that all efforts are undertaken to enhance the pass percentage in the upcoming academic year.
