The Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, Ifeanyi Emenari, has ordered intensified patrols along major highways, worship centres, recreational facilities and other vulnerable points across the state as Muslim faithful celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.
The Eid-el-Kabir also coincided with the Children’s Day.
The CP also directed that visibility policing be strengthened to ensure the safety of residents and visitors during the festive period.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the state command, DSP Udeme Edet, and made available to journalists on Wednesday, the CP noted that the festive period is usually characterised by large gatherings of people at Eid praying grounds, relaxation centres, recreational facilities, highways, parks and other public places as residents celebrate with their families and loved ones.
