S. Kishore Kumar, Bill Collector of Tirumangalam Municipality, along with his friend S. Vengadeswaran, was reportedly caught on the charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from A. Nagarajan of Pudhucherry for processing his application seeking fixing of property tax for the house of his wife.According to police, after Mr. Nagarajan applied for fixing of property tax for his wife’s house, Kishore Kumar demanded ₹15,000 for processing the application. Based on a complaint from Mr. Nagarajan, the officials attached to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit of Madurai district registered a case and laid a trap for the accused.Mr. Nagarajan handed over the money to Vengadeswaran who accepted it. Later, the Bill Collector admitted that he had asked his friend to receive the money on his behalf.Further investigation is under way. Published - May 26, 2026 06:33 pm IST
