The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has deployed Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams to worship centres, recreational facilities and other public venues ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The deployment is part of strengthened security measures introduced by the Command to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration across the FCT.
In a statement on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, said the Command had intensified security operations across the territory.
She said the Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, including the military, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigerian Immigration Service, had activated a joint security arrangement codenamed “Operation Sweep FCT.”
