After Senator Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri apologized to the family of the late entertainment journalist Lourdes Carvajal, more popularly known as Inday Badiday, her grandson I.C. Mendoza took to social media to say they were "all good.""I also get where you're coming from and your frustration. And yes, I'm sure you meant no malice by it," I.C. said.Admitting his lola was really known for showbiz intrigues, I.C. said "it just felt off seeing her memory associated with fake news peddlers.""Kaya that's what caught us by surprise," I.C. explained."But all good," he added, as he thanked the senator and encouraged him to "keep fighting the good fight."On Monday afternoon, Zubiri mentioned Inday Badiday's name in his manifestation against Marcos' video which alleged that the administration is pushing for Charter change and term extensions. Several senators slammed it as fake news.“Inday Badiday na ba tayo (rito) sa Senado (Are we Inday Badiday here in the Senate)? Kaya nga sinasabi (That’s why it’s said), ‘we’re circus.’ I apologize to those who are watching. We are a circus because (of) this type of language that we are pushing in this caucus chamber. It’s unparliamentary,” Zubiri said.Immediately, I.C. reacted and posted an open letter to Zubiri on social media saying, "please do not disrespect the legacy of my late mommy Luds."Emphasizing her role in shaping local pop culture and the entertainment journalism landscape of her time," I.C. said "reducing her name and legacy to describe the 'circus' happening in the Senate is offensive.""Ang tagal nang patay ng lola ko. Please leave her out of your political commentaries and analogies," Mendoza said.In his apology, Zubiri said the mention of Inday Badiday's name was a "slip of the tongue in the middle of a heated debate.""I take full responsibility because I should have been more careful with my words,” he said.Zubiri also made sure to say he respects the late journalist, whose showbiz talk shows “See True” and “Eye to Eye” aired on GMA in the 1980s and 1990s.— LA, GMA News
