MANILA, Philippines — The committee leadership changes in the House of Representatives last week were not linked to the affected lawmakers’ impeachment votes, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said Sunday.
This came amid speculation that they were stripped of their positions for opposing the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Adiong denied that the leadership shakeup at the House appropriations committee and the special committee on Southern Tagalog development was tied to votes against Duterte’s impeachment, saying panel leadership changes happen “regularly.”
