LUCENA CITY — Quezon Governor Angelina Tan awarded P100,000 to a fisherman from the island town of Patnanungan on Friday in recognition of his honesty after he turned over cocaine worth P34.5 million that he found along the shoreline.
In a Facebook post written in Filipino on Saturday, Tan said the recognition coincided with a medical mission in the municipality.
“Alongside our medical mission in Patnanungan, we recognized the honesty and courage of a fisherman who discovered more than P34 million worth of cocaine,” Tan said.
“Through the Sariling Sikap Program, we personally awarded him a cash incentive worth P100,000 in recognition of his goodness and integrity,” she added.
