For many companies in Nigeria today, hiring young talent has become increasingly expensive and time-consuming. Businesses spend heavily on recruitment, onboarding, and training, only to discover that many entry-level candidates still require months of workplace preparation before they can contribute effectively.
That is the gap BeMINT (Mathematics, IT, Natural Sciences, and Technology) is trying to close.
The organisation operates a three-month internship model designed to reduce the burden employers typically face when hiring early-career talent. Unlike traditional internship programmes, partner organisations are not responsible for paying interns or handling foundational training. BeMINT takes care of both.
Before placement, participants undergo BeMINT’s training programme, where they are equipped with practical workplace skills, digital literacy, communication training, technical competence, and problem-solving abilities. The programme focuses on applied learning rather than theory, helping participants gain the kind of workplace orientation many employers say is often missing among young graduates.
For employers, this changes the hiring equation significantly. Instead of starting completely from scratch with interns or entry-level hires, companies gain access to pre-trained young professionals who already understand workplace expectations and can adapt more quickly to professional environments.
