MANILA, Philippines — National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag has appealed to Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa to just “surrender” and face the arrest warrant issued against him.
In a press conference on Friday, Matibag said the bureau already has a dedicated team actively locating Dela Rosa following the order of the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Thursday to enforce the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against dela Rosa in connection with his supposed involvement in the bloody war on drugs of the Duterte administration.
“I have to appeal to Senator Bato, maybe he is watching, it would be better if he just surrendered,” Matibag said mostly in Filipino.
“Because it’s just two things — get arrested or surrender. It’s an option to surrender,” he pointed out.
