GERB leader Boyko Borissov denied any involvement in the appointment of former Bulgarian European Prosecutor Teodora Georgieva and rejected accusations linking him or his party to the so-called “Eight Dwarfs” affair and fugitive former investigator Petyo Petrov.
Speaking to reporters in parliament, Borissov insisted he had never met Petrov, known publicly as “Petyo Euroto,” and said he had no connection to the controversial “Dwarfs” circle.
“I have never been to the ‘Dwarves,’ nor do I know who they are. I have never spoken to or seen Petyo Euroto,” Borissov said, adding that he would not allow GERB to be “slandered.”
His comments came after renewed controversy surrounding Georgieva’s appointment as Bulgaria’s representative in the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Borissov also responded to claims connected to European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kövesi, who reportedly referred to political interference in the selection procedure.
According to Borissov, he had no role in changing rankings or influencing the process.
