Petyo Petrov, widely known as “Euroto”/"Evroto"
The Sofia City Court found former investigator Petyo Petrov, widely known as “Euroto”/"Evroto" guilty in a document fraud case linked to the “Eight Dwarfs” scandal, sentencing him to a fine of 2,556 euros while also revoking his detention order and canceling the European arrest warrant issued against him.
The ruling came exactly one year after proceedings began in the Sofia City Court over accusations involving large-scale fraud and the unlawful acquisition of money, gold, and valuable coins connected to businessman Yavor Zlatanov and his family.
Petrov has been missing for the past three years, and the case was conducted in absentia. Earlier in the day, prosecutors had requested a 14-year prison sentence.
According to the indictment, the investigation began on July 28, 2021, and focused on actions allegedly carried out between October 2019 and March 2020. Prosecutors claimed Petrov used forged documents, including eight invoices made to appear as though they had been issued by a German company, along with a fabricated safekeeping agreement allegedly signed by Yavor Zlatanov.
