Former Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has questioned whether Kelechi Iheanacho has the qualities required to remain at Celtic beyond the current season, despite the striker’s decisive contributions during the club’s title-winning campaign, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Celtic secured the league crown after a dramatic run-in, with Iheanacho playing a notable role from the bench, scoring important goals that helped swing key matches in the Hoops’ favour.
However, Petrov believes the club must look for a more robust and consistently available forward if they are to sustain success at the highest level.
Analysing Celtic’s long-term squad needs, the former midfielder insisted that Iheanacho’s fitness record and style of play do not fully align with the demands of a club competing for major honours across a full season.
