Party members at the exercise disclosed on Tuesday that Dankaka secured a sweeping victory across major voting areas, particularly in the Offa Local Government Area where she was said to have polled over 30,000 votes, while Senator Ashiru scored less than 10,000 votes.
There is fresh crisis brewing within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State following allegations of a plot to manipulate the outcome of the party’s senatorial primary election in Kwara South Senatorial District after a female aspirant, Muheeba Dankaka, reportedly defeated incumbent Senator Oyelola Ashiru.
Party members at the exercise disclosed on Tuesday that Dankaka secured a sweeping victory across major voting areas, particularly in the Offa Local Government Area where she was said to have polled over 30,000 votes, while Senator Ashiru scored less than 10,000 votes.
The development has reportedly triggered tension among party stakeholders amid claims that some leaders within the APC are making moves to alter the outcome of the primary election in favour of the incumbent senator, who currently serves as the Deputy Senate Leader.
Sources within the party alleged that Senator Ashiru has been boasting that the results would eventually be changed “at the top,” despite the outcome already collated by party officials at the local level.
