The World Environment Day campaign began in Salem Railway Division (SRD) on Friday (May 15). Indian Railways is observing World Environment Day between May 15 and June 5 by running a special campaign with a focus on climate change. In a release, the division said it will organise various activities throughout the campaign period, aimed at enhancing environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable practices. The campaign will focus on climate change mitigation; cleanliness and waste management; reduction in plastic use; environmentally sustainable practices; green and sustainable railway operations; tree plantation; and water and energy conservation.
