The International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) was observed at the Salem Railway Division on Tuesday (June 9, 2026). Every year, ILCAD is observed in the month of June, which is a world-wide initiative to improve awareness of safety at level crossings. This year, the International Level Crossing Awareness Day was observed on June 9.In view of this, a road vehicle was prepared to visit various level crossings over the Salem Division on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 10, 2026) to propagate and improve awareness of safety at level crossings.Panna Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division, flagged off the awareness drive vehicle in the presence of R. Saravanan, Additional Divisional Railway Manager and branch officers at the DRM’s office. The awareness drive team visited Salem Junction and conducted an awareness programme. Railway personnel distributed pamphlets containing messages on safety to passengers. Later, the team visited the level crossings in the Salem-Mettur Dam section and conducted awareness programmes.
