The Salem Division of the Southern Railway conducted various campaigns to spread awareness on the International Level Crossing Awareness Day on June 5.
A level crossing awareness propaganda vehicle and a rally were flagged off on June 5 by Panna Lal, Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division, in the presence of P. Sivalingam, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, and Aakash Verma, Divisional Safety Officer. The vehicle visited level crossings and railway stations in the Salem-Vriddhachalam and the Salem-Erode-Karur-Namakkal-Salem sectors on June 5 and 6, playing announcements, songs, and distributing pamphlets. Street plays were also performed at many locations.
Counsellors from the Safety Branch of the Salem Division interacted with road users and urged them to be cautious at level crossings and pay attention to the information and warning boards. Users were also advised to wait patiently for trains to pass, and cross only after gates were opened.
