He later led the dispersal of seed balls from the Trishul viewpoint atop the hill.Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tej Bharat said the initiative was taken up under the guidance of VMRDA Chairman M.V. Pranav Gopal as part of efforts to strengthen green cover in the region. He said the seed balls were prepared using 70% cow dung, 30% soil and seeds of indigenous forest species. The seed balls contain seeds of nearly 70 varieties of trees and fruit-bearing species, including banyan, neem, jamun, tamarind, mango, guava, pomegranate, orange and jackfruit. Around 10,000 seed balls were dispersed across the hill under the supervision of Green Climate Team volunteers.Observing that climate change and environmental pollution were leading to rising temperatures and frequent natural disasters, Mr. Tej Bharat stressed the need for immediate conservation measures. He appealed to citizens to plant at least one sapling as a social responsibility and reiterated VMRDA’s goal of transforming Visakhapatnam into a greener city.Additional Commissioner Datla Keerthi, Secretary Murali Krishna, DFO Sirisha and other officials participated.
