In view of the rising temperatures in the district, Dindigul Collector S. Saravanan has asked the public to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the scorching summer heat.

In a press release, the Collector asked the public to take precautionary measures to protect themselves from the summer heat. To avoid dehydration, he urged the public to drink plenty of water, take oral rehydration solutions (ORS) and healthy drinks such as buttermilk, lemon juice, fruit juices, fermented rice and tender coconut water.

He asked people to eat fruits, vegetables, and home cooked food and avoid soft drinks, tea and coffee. He advised people to keep windows open at night to ensure proper ventilation.

He advised people to stay in well-ventilated and cool places and also stay indoors as much as possible, wear loose fitting cotton and khadi clothes, carry an umbrella and a water bottle before stepping out and avoid going out barefoot.

He advised the public to avoid travelling in the hot summer sun between 12 noon and 3 p.m.. He also advised parents to monitor their children and never leave them unattended and the elderly to monitor their health on a daily basis.
