Heavy rain and gale-force winds will persist in Italy until Friday and then a new front of icy weather will hit the Bel Paese over the weekend, one of Italy's top weathermen said Wednesday.
Severe winter weather is continuing in Italy, said Lorenzo Tedici, media meteorologist for iLMeteo.it.
This weekend, a new low-pressure system is expected, along with a sharp drop in temperatures that will turn the precipitation into snowfall at low altitudes.
"In the next few hours," he said, "Calabria and Sicily will be the areas most at risk.
Very strong wind gusts and local hailstorms are expected.
