Italy will continue to see unstable weather until Wednesday with rain, high winds and some storms, a top forecaster said Tuesday, with daytime temperatures however still above average for the time of year.

"There will be rain, wind, and some thunderstorms until tomorrow, with daytime temperatures even exceeding 25-26 degrees Celsius," said Lorenzo Tedici, meteorologist for iLMeteo.it, who pointed out that Italy is experiencing a flow of Sirocco winds bringing not only precipitation but also a massive load of desert sand.

"We have effectively entered a North African phase," he observes, "which will keep temperatures above average, a trend that will likely continue for many days." In addition to the ochre mud, in the next few hours we'll have to watch out for locally heavy showers punctuated by little sunshine.

Despite the rain, cloud cover, and dust-laden skies, temperatures will remain significant for the period, with the capital still above 20°C and peaks of 25°C in the south.

Starting Wednesday, we'll see more scattered showers, especially over the major islands and central regions.
