A 24-year-old motorist was killed after he hit an electric pole in Guindy on Saturday.
Traffic police said Parameswaran, a resident of Ramapuram near Porur, was working as a salesman in a private finance company located on Anna Salai.
After finishing his work on Saturday, he was returning home in his two-wheeler. As he was proceeding on Butt Road to take the Kathipara flyover, he attempted to overtake an autorickshaw. Due to excessive speed, he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an electric pole installed along the median of the road.
Parameswaran sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot. The Guindy traffic investigation police sent the body to Government Royapettah hospital for a post-mortem.
