A 19-year-old college student, who also worked as a food delivery executive, died and his pillion rider was injured after he reportedly lost control of his scooter and crashed into an electric pole in Ramaswamipalya under the Banaswadi traffic police limits in the early hours of Wednesday. Police said the scooter was being ridden at high speed at the time of the accident.The deceased has been identified as Santosh Daniel, a resident of R.S. Palya. Police said Santosh was riding the scooter around 1 a.m. with his friend Jeevitha, 21, when the mishap occurred.According to preliminary information, the two were travelling at high speed when Santosh reportedly lost control of the scooter, causing it to skid and crash into an electric pole. The impact threw both riders onto the road. Passers-by rushed them to a private hospital, where Santosh succumbed to his injuries around 3.15 a.m. Jeevitha sustained minor injuries and is out of danger. The Banaswadi Traffic Police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.In another incident, a 46-year-old man riding a scooter was killed after a speeding goods vehicle collided with his two-wheeler on Karapanahalli road in Hoskote.The victim, Zameer Pasha, a resident of Hoskote, was reportedly on his way to buy vegetables when the accident occurred on the Chintamani-Karapanahalli road stretch. The impact of the collision threw the rider off the scooter, resulting in fatal injuries. He died on the spot. The Hoskote traffic police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
