A 58-year-old person was killed after being knocked down by a speeding car near Vadapalani on Saturday (March 14, 2026) night.
Police said Bhaskar was a resident of VOC Street in Mathiyazhagan Nagar of Saligramam and was an autodriver. On Saturday night, Bhaskar was returning home in his auto on the Vadapalani - Nerkundram Road when an unidentified car approaching from the opposite direction dashed into Bhaskar’s auto-rickshaw and fled the scene without stopping.
In the accident, the auto was completely damaged with Bhaskar killed on the spot. Pondy Bazaar Traffic Investigation police sent the body to Government Kilpauk medical college hospital for postmortem. The police officials are verifying the CCTV cameras for identifying the car driver responsible for the accident.
