Abroad centre-left alliance will continue governing Campania and Puglia and the centre right will stay in charge of Veneto, according to the results after Sunday and Monday's elections in the regions, where turnout was sharply down.

In Campania, former Lower House Speaker and 5-Star Movement (M5S) member Roberto Fico was set to get just under 60% while the centre-right candidate, Foreign Undersecretary Edmondo Cirielli, was on just under 40% according to projections.

In Puglia, former Bari mayor Antonio Decaro was projected to get just under 70%, with the centre right's Luigi Lobuono set to get just over 30%.

But the centre right has held its stronghold of Veneto, with Alberto Stefani of the right-ing League party on over 60%, compared to 30% for the centre left's Giovanni Manildo.
