The Fifth Additional District Court in Coimbatore on Wednesday (October 15, 2025) sentenced a former local functionary of the Bharatiya Janata Party to life imprisonment for murdering his friend at Ikkarai Boluvampatti in 2018.

The punishment and a fine of ₹10,000 were awarded to K. Kandasamy, 36, of Annaiappa Gounder Street near Nallampalayam for murdering V. Nagaraj, 21, of the same locality.
