An American social media star with more than 23 million followers has come under fire after posting a video of himself wrestling a freshwater crocodile in Queensland.
Mike Holston, known online as The Real Tarzann, shared the controversial footage to Instagram, reportedly filmed at the Lockhart River, in Cape York about 520km north of Cairns.
The video shows Holston stepping off the boat and into ankle deep water before walking towards the crocodile as it basked in the sun in the shallows.
Holston is shown wading through the water but as he cautiously approached the crocodile it became spooked, with the reptile immediately swimming away.
The influencer ran after the reptile and jumped onto the crocodile's back before pulling it from the water.
