A 10-year-old girl was killed after she fell from a two-wheeler and was run over by a lorry on Paper Mills Road near Perambur on Wednesday (June 18, 2025). The lorry driver was arrested by Thirumangalam traffic investigation police.
A senior traffic police official said the victim was Sowmiya, daughter of Senthilnathan and Yamini. On Wednesday morning, Yamini was taking Sowmiya to the private school located in Purasawalkam by two-wheeler. As Yamini was proceeding on Paper Mills Road and turning towards Watkins Street junction, Sowmiya who was seated in the pillion fell down from the vehicle and a lorry driven by V. Karthikeyan ran over the girl. She was killed on the spot.
