A six-year-old girl died in an accident here on Tuesday (June 9, 2026). According to the police, Sasikala (33) and her two daughters, aged six and four, were headed to Udayapatti in an auto on Tuesday. While the auto reached Udayapatti TNEB office, the auto driver tried to take a U-turn, when a lorry rammed into the auto. In an impact, the six-year-old girl fell from the auto and the lorry l ran over the child and she died on the spot. Sasikala and her four-year-old daughter sustained injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Ammapet. The Ammapet police sent the body to Salem Government Hospital for post-mortem.
