North Korea fired more than 10 short-range ballistic missiles into the sea as U.S.-South Korea military drills neared their end, escalating tensions and raising fresh questions over efforts to revive diplomacy with Pyongyang.

The North Korean missile appeared to have landed outside Japan's exclusive economic zone in the sea, Japanese media reported.
