It’s been a century since the Iberian peninsula has been in the full shadow of the moon. Here’s what it looked like in the path of totality.

Day will briefly turn into night across a swathe of northern Spain on Wednesday, when the Moon will completely cover the Sun during a rare total solar eclipse.

The Moon will completely block the Sun in Iceland, Spain and Northern Portugal, while other parts of Europe and North America will see a partial eclipse.

This will be mainland Europe's first total eclipse since 2006, and the first in mainland Spain since 1900.
