The soldier first opened fire on his colleagues, killing one and wounding another, before targeting civilians, resulting in the deaths of three individuals: two men aged 71 and 59, and a 64-year-old woman. Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Russian-installed governor of the Sevastopol region, confirmed the attacker's arrest and stated that medical personnel are providing care to the wounded. The motive for the attack remains unclear, with officials indicating that all circumstances and causes of the incident are currently under investigation. The incident took place in Crimea, a strategically important and heavily militarised peninsula annexed by Russia from Ukraine in 2014, which is frequently subjected to Ukrainian drone and missile strikes.
