Iraq is accelerating plans for new pipeline routes through Syria and Turkey to diversify crude exports away from the Strait of Hormuz with support from U.S. and Qatari partners.

The US backs reviving the Kirkuk-Baniyas crude oil pipeline between Iraq and Syria, a multibillion-dollar project to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.

Bloomberg reported that Chevron could play a role in rebuilding the pipeline, though the company declined to comment.
