The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has strongly condemned the arrest and detention of journalist Zainab Sodiq by the Department of State Services (DSS). Describing the action of the secret police as an arbitrary attack on press freedom, SERAP called on President Bola Tinubu to order Sodiq’s immediate release. In a statement issued on Thursday, SERAP condemned the fact that Sodiq is being detained solely for carrying out her legitimate duties as a journalist and exercising her fundamental human rights.
