Local police installed fences around the hotel and deployed guards to prevent Mexican fans from approaching the hotel, but small groups gathered at the perimeter of the security fence, trying to take pictures and videos of the English players. Some other groups arrived by the fence and tried to make noise but were asked to leave by police. When more people arrived, riot police expanded the security perimeter around the hotel. Nevertheless, dozens of Mexican fans staged a new attempt to make noise by honking motorbike horns and cheering their national team.
