The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) headed to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Thursday as the country continues to combat a deadly resurgence of Ebola in its volatile eastern region where instability is rife.

The WHO warns that the Ebola outbreak in DRC is worsening and calls for urgent action from neighbouring countries to contain the deadly virus.

The WHO chief warned Wednesday that conflict raging in eastern DRC was dramatically complicating efforts to rein in a deadly Ebola outbreak and urged an immediate ceasefire.
