US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there is a “pretty solid” proposal under discussion that would address Iran’s reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and launch what he described as a serious, time-limited negotiation on nuclear issues.

Iran’s nuclear programme and control of the Strait of Hormuz remain major sticking points, despite mediation efforts by Qatar and Pakistan.

The U.S. and Iran implied Friday that there was progress in peace talks but Tehran's uranium and tolls for the Strait of Hormuz were sticking points.
