US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said there is a “pretty solid” proposal under discussion that would address Iran’s reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and launch what he described as a serious, time-limited negotiation on nuclear issues.

The Secretary of State tempered optimism for a deal to end the Iran war, calling Iran's bid to "create a tolling system" in the Strait of Hormuz "not acceptable."

Iran’s nuclear programme and control of the Strait of Hormuz remain major sticking points, despite mediation efforts by Qatar and Pakistan.
