A gunman allegedly opened fire near the western perimeter of the White House Saturday evening while President Donald Trump was inside, prompting widespread prayers for his safety.

Correspondents stationed near the White House said they heard what appeared to be repeated gunfire on Saturday, triggering an immediate security response around the grounds.

The FBI and Secret Service are on scene, says FBI chief Kash Patel.

Police and security forces have swarmed the area around the White House, which was sent into lockdown after “dozens” of shots were fired and two people were injured.
