Europe is heading into the autumn with natural gas prices rising again and storage facilities still below the levels normally expected for the season. Bulgaria’s gas storage facilities were 65.34% full as of September 8, slightly below the European Union average but ahead of some of the continent’s largest economies.
The latest increase in European gas prices comes as the continent prepares for the winter heating season, with concerns over supplies adding pressure to an already uncertain market.
The price at Europe’s TTF gas hub has continued to climb, reaching its highest level in more than three years. The increase comes amid tensions surrounding liquefied natural gas supplies and continued uncertainty on global energy markets.
EU gas storage facilities were, on average, 67.12% full as of September 8. Bulgaria was slightly below that level, with storage at 65.34%.
The differences between individual countries, however, are considerable. Germany’s storage facilities were only 54.75% full, almost 10 percentage points below Bulgaria. Romania had reached 73.92%, while Croatia stood at 77.2%.
